Horse Sponsorship Program Helping Horses to Help People
If you have a passion for horses but are not in the position to have one of your own at the moment or would like to simply help some horses and people back to an enjoyment of life then the program we offer here may be the one for you. There are two ways to help here at the centre one is to make a commitment of a small amount of money each month to go towards the rehabilitation of a horse....his mind, body and spirit. You can decide the amount you are able to pay regularly. It is important that you can maintain this commitment for at least 6 months so we can set up and follow a program of rehabilitation. In return we will send you monthly updates on how your horse is progressing, a story or two and overview of treatment he/she has undergone. There are four horses presently that can be sponsored Diego, Angel,Specks and Guinness. The other is to donate a one off amount which will go into a separate account which is only used for the horses.
Guinness

| Guinness is the wild man here at the centre. He doesn't act his age at all, as he gallops by, mane and tail streaming out behind him, his coat shining with sweat, and you look at his face as he stops for a second. There is a regal look about him, a horse who has a kind nature, but truly untamed inside. But he is not always like this. His back legs are damaged from a fall in a horse float. Sometimes he wanders around looking like a cripple and your heart really goes out to him. Guinness needs special boots for when he goes out (going out shoes!!!!), herbs to reduce the inflammation, ground work and therapy in the ocean. Guinness is an amazing guide many people have been helped through his wisdom. Sponsorship will help lessen his pain so that he can do his work for years to come.

Angel

| Angel is our blue eyed lady. Imagine what it means to be a blue eyed blonde that constantly lives out in the sun which in Western Australia is some 8 months of the year. She is always the first one to race over to you and try to put her head in the halter. Pick me pick me she seems to say. Before she can fully join the team here she needs some things resolved or at least under control. At only 7 she has developed skin sarcoids or cancers. She has already had one operation on her eye and will probably need constant special care. There are some products which could possibly help her but these need to be brought in for Germany. I found out only in the last couple of days that Angel probably had an injury to her shoulder at birth which has caused her to always favor one of her front feet. This starting to result in deformity. It can be controlled or even reversed but this will take regular farrier work. I have started this journey with her but your sponsorship will make it possible for an ongoing program to be implemented.

Diego

| A Horse named Diego......I first met Diego (or Don Diego as he is formally known!) 2 weeks before he was due to be put to sleep. He had lost his zest for life and much of his trust in people. He was chronically lame and had pain over much of his body. Most of all he seemed to have lost the joy in his life. Diego hasd been trained and ridden as a dressage horse, pushed to high levels. When his feet, body and mind began to break down stronger and stronger equipment and tools were used to prolong his usefulness. He became a broken spirit. On that first day as Diego stood with his head on my chest I was sure it was not the end of his journey here. When Diego first came to us he disappeared regularly into his own world much like an autistic child. He once walked into a tree when being lead, unheard of behavior for a horse. He has now been with us for about 5 months and in this time much of his trust has returned in people. He is now starting to become involved in our Equine Learning Program. He is an amazing sensitive character and a great asset to our team. Due to his history he now has some ongoing issues. His program includes regular bare foot trimming, led exercise along the roads, therapy in the ocean, and dental care, some body work and treatment for his arthritis. Your sponsorship will help us give him the treatment he needs.

Specks
| Is the cheeky chestnut Quarter Horse that is interested in one thing - food! He keeps us laughing with his quirky habits, and when he glances at you mischievously from under his forelock, you know he is up to something. Specks is also a quiet kind horse who has helped many people from ages 8 to 86 find a new meaning in life and have some fun. But he has some arthritis and hoof troubles, so being an injured horse he has high needs. So to help Specks, please donate.
